This is a sample walk through of reassigning zip code ranges between two regions in ARC.
1) Go to D70, Northern New Jersey, where the zip code currently exists.
2) Either delete the zipcode range or split it so that there is a deletable segment. For instance, I split range 07071-0000 to 07093-9999 into two chunks:
07071-0000 to 07092-9999
07093-0000 to 07093-9999
I then deleted 07093-0000 to 07093-9999. This is unusual, normally you need to get rid of a code in the middle of an existing range, so you just exclude it from your split.
3) Go to D74, Bergen-Hudson-Passaic, where and add the zip code to this region.
In this case Rebecca had done that already, but the range added was 07093-0000 to 07093-9999. If you do step (3) first a warning message tells you the range already exists in another region, directing you to remove it.
4) After adding the zipcode range, select the "Reassign Based on Postal Code"
checkbox next to it and submit. This will take applicants that existed in the other region and move them to the new region based on this zipcode. We don't do this automatically since shifting applicants like this may not be desired behavior in every case. One you've submitted, you'll see a list of the applicants that were moved based on your selection, in this case Beatriz
Cuevas:
Reassigned applicants to pools. 1 applicants were moved to a new pool. 0 applicants were maintained. 0 applicants were uncategorized, but were not moved.
Applicants Moved
58019: Cuevas, Beatriz
Applicants Not Moved
Applicants Uncategorized, but not moved
If there were active assignments on the zipcode there might have been applicants that were not moved.
