In Microsoft's latest Office suite software for Apple operating systems, Office 2011, Entourage is no longer available. Instead, Microsoft offers Outlook. This application requires new instructions for connecting to Columbia University's Exchange server.
This article will provide these new instructions. Alternatively, if Entourage is still being used, then refer to our KB article here.
In order to get Outlook 2011 working, one MUST download, install, and run Columbia University's VPN client. Directions for doing so can be found here.
To obtain Microsoft Office 2011, Columbia University staff can download the software here.
Okay, now that the required software has been downloaded and installed, see below for steps on configuring Outlook 2011 to connect to Columbia's Exchange Server.
Step 1: Open Outlook by clicking on the O icon in the dock.
Step 2: The Add an Account box should appear. If not, then go to Tools -> Accounts to make this window appear. Click on the option labelled Exchange Account.
Step 3: Using the below pic, fill in the appropriate boxes and click on the Add Account button.
***Make sure to leave the Password field empty AND to uncheck the Configure automatically box.
Step 4: You will now be prompted to enter your Outlook password. Do so now.
It will take a few minutes for your Outlook account to fully load and sync. Give it about 10 minutes. Once complete, you will now have Outlook connected to the Columbia University Exchange server.
***Take note that you will have to connect to the CU VPN prior to each time Outlook is started.
