Storage System Upgraded

The former storage infrastructure of Columbia College and its affiliated units was aging and in need of an upgrade. After thorough research and investigation, CCIT purchased and implemented a NetApp FAS2020 iSCSI storage system. This solution provides many benefits, including, but not limited to: new high-performing hardware; a SAN framework; a replacement of current shared and individual storage; improvements to the backup system; and snapshots for simple data recovery.

As a user of the College computing environment you may have not noticed immediate impact as the upgrade was mostly behind the scenes. However, every time you log into your desktop computers or access files on a shared network drive, you are using the NetApp FAS2020. Overall, this new system provides a strong foundation for our storage infrastructure.
